青木愛弓による個展「夏をとどめて」
西新宿のヒルトン東京 地下1階に位置するフジギャラリー新宿では、2026年7月18日（土）から8月30日（日）まで、青木愛弓による個展「夏をとどめて」を開催いたします。
青木愛弓（1982―）は、水面の煌めきや季節によって変わる光、自然の色彩、記憶の中に残る情景などを手がかりに、現実には存在しない風景を描いてきました。ちぎった水彩紙や和紙によるコラージュとアクリル絵具のブラシストロークを重ね、色と形の断片を一つの風景へと構成しています。刻々と姿を変え、やがて失われていくものの美しさを見つめるその作品には、「もののあはれ」や「うたかた」に通じる日本的な美意識が息づいています。
これまでの作品では、色や形が画面を横、あるいは縦方向へ流れるように展開する構成が多く見られました。本展で発表する新作では、大きな形や筆致が斜めに交差し、複数の方向へ広がることで、画面の動きがよりダイナミックになっています。明るい黄や緑、青、白と、深い黒や紺とが入り交じり、まばゆい光とその陰にある気配までを含んだ、奥行きのある夏の景色が生み出されています。
「夏をとどめて」というタイトルには、鮮烈でありながら移ろいやすい夏の光や色彩、遠い記憶を、絵画の中に抱きとめたいという思いが込められています。幼い頃の夏、いつか過ごした夏、今まさに目の前にある夏。本展では、見る人それぞれの記憶とも重なり得る、多様な夏の情景を描いた新作を紹介します。

<アーティスト・ステートメント / Artist’s Statement>
私の作品は、アクリル絵具の描写に、ちぎった水彩紙や和紙を重ねるコラージュの 技法によって生まれます。
画面に紡がれる色や形のカケラは、人々の心にある「記憶」や「想い」の断片です。
個展【夏をとどめて】では、一年の中で最も生命力にあふれ、まばゆい輝きを放つ 「夏」の情景に焦点を当てました。
そして今、私は再び油絵に向き合っている。 描けば答えが出るわけでも、正解が見えるわけでもない。 キャンバスの前でも、私は相変わらず迷いながら手を動かしている。
圧倒的な光、豊かに息づく自然の色彩、そしていつかの遠い記憶を呼び覚ますよう な夏の気配。
それらは水面の泡のようにはかなく移ろいゆくものですが、だからこそ、その鮮烈 な一瞬を画面に留めたいと願っています。
重なり合うカケラが一つの作品として結ばれたとき、絵画は私の手を離れ、観る方 それぞれの物語として動き出します。
私の描いた夏の記憶が、あなたの大切な原風景と重なり、新たな想いを巡らせる きっかけとなれば幸いです。

TO HOLD SUMMER
FUJI GALLERY SHINJUKU, located on the basement level of Hilton Tokyo in Nishi-Shinjuku, is pleased to present To Hold Summer, a solo exhibition by Ayumi Aoki, from Saturday, July 18 through Sunday, August 30, 2026.
Ayumi Aoki, born in 1982, creates imagined landscapes inspired by the glimmer of water, seasonal changes in light, the colors of nature, and scenes that remain in memory. Combining collage made from torn watercolor paper and washi with acrylic brushstrokes, she brings fragments of color and form together within a single pictorial space. Her paintings contemplate the beauty of things that are constantly changing and will eventually disappear, reflecting a Japanese sensibility associated with mono no aware—the awareness of beauty and poignancy found in impermanence—and with utakata, the fleeting image of bubbles on water.
In Aoki’s earlier works, colors and forms often unfolded horizontally or vertically across the canvas. In the new works presented in this exhibition, broad forms and brushstrokes intersect diagonally and expand in multiple directions, producing compositions that are more dynamic than before. Bright yellows, greens, blues, and whites intermingle with deep blacks and navy tones, evoking not only the brilliance of summer light but also the shadows, depth, and underlying presence contained within a summer landscape.
he exhibition title, To Hold Summer, expresses Aoki’s desire to hold within painting the vivid yet transient light and colors of summer, together with distant memories of the season. The summer depicted is not limited to a particular time: it may be a summer from childhood, one experienced years ago, or the summer unfolding before us now. The exhibition presents new works that allow each viewer to connect the paintings with their own memories and experiences of summer. Artist Statement
Ayumi Aoki
My works are created through a collage process that combines acrylic painting with layers of torn watercolor paper and washi.
The fragments of color and form woven across the surface represent fragments of the memories and emotions held within us. In To Hold Summer, I focus on scenes of summer—the season of the year that seems most filled with vitality and dazzling light.
Overwhelming sunlight, the rich colors of living nature, and the atmosphere of summer that awakens distant memories: these things are as fleeting and ever- changing as bubbles on the surface of water. It is precisely because of their transience that I wish to preserve those vivid moments within the pictorial space.
When the overlapping fragments come together as a single work, the painting leaves my hands and begins to unfold as a story belonging to each viewer.
I hope that the memories of summer expressed in my paintings will overlap with landscapes that are precious to you, and become an opportunity to encounter new thoughts and memories.
